This session saturday at 5 is the original AD&D module The Swords, and Wizardry ruleset is a OD&D compatable system which works with all the older rulesets (AD&D BX etc.) Used here for convenience of reference material while maintaining the feel of the classic game. Swords and Wizardry is available in the 2nd edition currently.

TimeSlots: Wednesday (31 July), 7p - 11p and Thursday (1 Aug), 3p - 7p Gaming System: Hero System, 6th Edition Number of Max Players per Timeslot: 7 Event Description: Hero System is the longest-running and most popular superheroic RPG, but it frightens people. “It’s too crunchy!” Is it though? Character creation can take some work, but that is true of any game. Once a character is created, I don’t believe that Hero System is any more difficult to use than any other game, and I can prove it to you! Hero is a “toolkit” that allows you to build powers as you envision them; Hero is capable of playing every genre from pulp to fantasy to sci-fi to heroic. Play a quick sample combat using Hero System with some pre-generated superheroic characters, and see for yourself. Spend some time and be a Hero!

What is Cogent Cogent is an RPG designed by Shad of Shadiversity and Jazza! The 1.0 Edition of the rules (which you can learn about here) Cogent Roleplay are very close to the 1.5 rules we will be using, designed by the Cogent Community Project. Think of these questions, adapted from Shad's core rules. Character disposition - From the COGENT rules "Are they happy, sad, moody, funny, cautious, untrusting, stupid, smart, tactical, shy, or boisterous? The list can go on and on . . . " Character History - In particular, for our session, Why did they get employed as an agent of the Crown? Beliefs / Morality - In particular, when on a mission what Code do they live by? Are they obedient to the directives of the Crown? Are they merciful towards potential enemies? Are they ruthless? Goals / Aspiration - What is their goal as an agent? Are they here just for money? Is their work for the Crown a means to an end? Attributes In the Community Project build of Cogent, there are four attributes Strength (STR), Reflex (RFL), Intelligence (INT) and Charisma (CHA). You will have two points to distributes among these (yes its normal to have a base of zero in an Attribute). Even one point in an attribute represents that your character has lots of training.
